MD, Kenya Orient Insurance Limited
James Kaguchia was appointed to the board of Kenya Orient Insurance in 2019 and is presently the Managing Director. James Kaguchia was until his appointment the Executive Director- Finance at Kenya Orient since October 2018 and served as an advisory to the board since 2015. A former executive at Centum Investments, Mr Kaguchia has a wealth of knowledge having worked in various companies and capacities in the financial services sector. He is currently also a director at real estate development firm Daykio Plantations Limited and Alpha Africa Asset Managers. Previously, he served as a director in charge of investments at listed firm Centum Investments Co Ltd and as CEO at Kewberg South Africa. He has also served in the Boards of General Motors East Africa, Kenya Wines Agencies Ltd, UAP Insurance Limited and Coca cola Bottlers, Nairobi Airport Services Ltd among others. Mr. Kaguchia has also worked at General Motors and Toyota. He is expected to bring in his expertise in finance and investment to take Kenya Orient to the next level as the firm implements a five-year transformation strategy. Mr. Kaguchia holds a Bachelors in Commerce degree (Accounting Option) from Kenyatta University. He has also attended leadership, development and competitive strategy courses at Strathmore University.
Julius K. Muyah
Mr. Muya is the Chairman of Kenya Orient Insurance Limited (KOIL) since July 2010. Prior to that, Mr. Muya had served as a director from 2006. During his tenure as Chairman, he has overseen the streamlining of the organization including establishment of robust Legal, Customer Care and Human Resource departments. In addition, KOIL has opened 7 branches bringing the total number to 17 branches countrywide. Mr. Muya has extensive knowledge in business development, service delivery management, product development, strategy implementation and staff training and motivation. He is also the founder of Ingenious Concepts Group, a Kenyan outdoor advertising and marketing firm.
Titus K Muya
Mr. T K Muya founded Kenya Orient Insurance Company Limited in 2004 and currently serves as a director. He previously served as Chairman of the company until 2011. One of Kenya’s most outstanding and visionary entrepreneurs, Mr Muya also founded Family Bank in 1984 and served as the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer until June 2006 and as Chairman till December 2012. He is also associated with various other companies including Daykio Plantations Limited, Alpha Africa Asset Managers and Kenya Orient Life Limited on whose Boards he sits or is represented in different capacities. Mr. Muya holds other directorships in Nyara Tea Estates and Family Bank Insurance Agency.
David Muriithi was appointed to the Board of Kenya Orient Insurance Limited in 2004. He brings his vast industry expertise having worked with Motor Services Limited in 1986 and later opened Pricelite Motors in 1986 where he served as the Managing Director. Mr. Muriithi has been a key pillar in the vehicle service industry by setting high quality standards. Over the years, he has issued personalized, professional and good quality services for motor vehicles maintenance and repairs in Kenya. Mr. Muriithi is an active member of KEMRA (Kenya Motor Repairs Association), a body that represents the interests of the formal motor body repairers market in Kenya.
David Kinuthia Kimani
Mr. David Kimani was appointed to the Board and has served as Director at Family Bank Limited since 2011. He is also currently the Lead Consultant and Director at Superior Concepts Management Consultants. Besides serving as Finance Director at Kenya Tea Development Agency Ltd for five years, Mr. Kimani has also held several senior positions for over 20 years. He brings a wealth of experience in auditing, financial and treasury management. He also served as Managing Director of Chai Trading Company Ltd for three years as well as a short stint as a consulting Director at KTDA.
Mr. Muema was appointed to Kenya Orient Insurance Board in 2014. He is a highly respected professional in the finance sector having held senior positions in multinational corporations both in Kenya and Europe. He has been a finance manager at Shell Exploration Kenya and Shell Uganda, a financial controller at Kenya Shell and a finance advisor at Shell International in London, UK. More recently, Mr. Muema was the pension investment and policy advisor for Shell Africa. He is currently a pension’s consultant at PenPlan Services and treasurer at Help Age Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA) (K), a certified trustee of the Retirement Benefits Authority and board chairman of Bright Technologies Ltd and Nanga Investments Ltd.
Mr. Keriri was appointed Director at Kenya Orient Insurance Company Ltd in 2004 and was Executive Director at Family Bank Limited until December 2015. He has over 15 years’ experience working in Information Technology both in Kenya and the USA. He has emerged as a key influencer and policy maker in the development of ICT banking systems in Kenya. Mr. Keriri successfully managed the implementation of Flexcube system into Family Bank Ltd when it was converting from Family Finance Building Society. The introduction of Flexcube has given Family Bank Ltd a competitive edge by enabling the Bank to offer superior services to customers.
